What is the CSS Exam?
The Central Superior Services (CSS) is a competitive examination conducted by the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) of Pakistan. It is the most prestigious civil service examination in the country. Successful candidates are allocated to various occupational groups and services, including: • Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) • Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) • Foreign Service of Pakistan (FSP) • Pakistan Revenue Service (PRS) • Information Group • Secretariat Group • And more... The exam is held once a year, typically in February, and results come in phases over the following months.
CSS Paper Structure
The CSS exam consists of two categories of papers: 📌 COMPULSORY PAPERS (600 marks total) 1. English Essay — 100 marks 2. English Précis & Composition — 100 marks 3. General Science & Ability — 100 marks 4. Current Affairs — 100 marks 5. Pakistan Affairs — 100 marks 6. Islamic Studies / Comparative Religion — 100 marks 📌 OPTIONAL PAPERS (600 marks total) Candidates must choose 6 optional subjects from a wide list. How to Apply for CSS
Eligibility Requirements: • Pakistani citizen • Age: 21–30 years (relaxation for certain categories) • Minimum qualification: Second-class Bachelor's degree or equivalent • Valid CNIC Application Process: 1. Visit the FPSC official website (fpsc.gov.pk) 2. Create an online account 3. Fill in the CSS application form during the registration window (usually August–October) 4.
